How do I get vehicle adaptations on the Motability Scheme?
The easiest and most cost effective way to arrange for adaptations on your Scheme car is when you are ordering it. And, by ordering your car and adaptations at the same time, your adaptation installer can ensure that the combination of the car and adaptations, along with your wheelchair if you use one, all work together. It also means that your brand new car is delivered with the adaptations you need fitted so that you can drive away and start enjoying it.
Over 150 of the most popular adaptations can be fitted to your car at no extra cost. Others will require payment in addition to your Advance Payment directly to your car dealer at the start of your lease.
If you need to add adaptations mid-lease
If you need to add any extra adaptations during your lease, you will need to inform Royal and Sun Alliance (RSAM) and Motability Customer Services team first to ensure you are covered. You can then contact us to discuss your needs. You will need to pay the cost of any such adaptations direct to us.
Can I get financial assistance toward adaptations?
Many adaptations on the Scheme are now available at no additional cost providing they are fitted at the beginning of your lease. If you are unable to afford essential adaptations, Motability, the Charity, may be able to help.
